David Loti is a unique individual.

I say that in the sincerest way possible. I could only hope that in some point in my life I have the energy that he displays with such confidence, even if only for a moment. In every word and every note that exudes from his person, Mr. Loti relates the inner-workings of his own mind to the everyday situations of your life. Yes, you. Perhaps you don't realize it, but there is something to take away from each of his well-written tunes.

For instance, perhaps you are having a bad day and are in desperate need of a good, hearty chuckle. Let David's "My Life as Captain Dave" whisk you away to a world in which you, too, will ponder the possibilities of life as a pirate, sailing "the seas with with a wooden leg, Until the day I die." After all, "Pirating's got all the best jokes that you'll ever hear", but I'll leave it to you to find out what those jokes are.

Another example of how Loti is an excellent songwriter is when the songs he writes to express his own spirituality grab you and won't let go. The words to "Clean" reach out and grab you in just that way. "All of this pain I cause myself stems from my insecurity/ 'cause I try things by myself, ending worse than I began."

The beauty of David's talents is that he is gifted in so many ways. He has been in and out of bands since his high school days and has added amazing contributions to a good number of projects. His ability to play guitar has served him well in his own adventures as well as for Maybe Tuesday, The Chris Keegan Band, and his latest project of his hilarious genius, A Soup Named Stew. But David has also helped shape some bands as a drummer. Lucid Soule, an art-rock outfit, employed Loti as their first drummer while the group was still shaping itself. He saw that band, full of amazing musicians, gain a large local following and record three EPs (I, II and III) with David behind the kit. He has also played drums and percussion for Kaiser Bill, Erin Miley, and a few times with the Chris Keegan Band.

I have been incredibly lucky not only play music on many occasions with David, but more lucky to be his friend. His music is inspiring and his friendship is invaluable. I hope that you will take the opportunity to enjoy his talent as much as I have. Look for David at any of his upcoming shows with A Soup Named Stew, as a solo artist, or with any of the other projects that he will be involved with. Also, stay tuned to davidloti.com for any updates, photos, songs, and random thoughts that he will provide in the coming months.

Oh, and thanks for listening. Yes, you!
